Here is a very interesting opportunity to acquire a part completed Bruce Roberts Spray with Pilot House Gaff Ketch Rig. The vessel is built in steel with fully assembled hull and deck which features a pilot house. The hull was constructed in 2009 and remained inside a boat shed within a Nottingham based boat yard as a potential project that sadly never completed.
The yacht was purchased in current form by the current owner earlier in 2020, but sadly due to a change in the owners circumstances, he is now unfortunately unable to commit to the project, hence she is listed for sale at a reduced price.
The hull and deck appear to be in super condition having been stored inside for some time (currently now outside), she has been fully insulated. The rig is intended as a gaff rig ketch with beautiful hand-made wooden mast and spars which are supplied. The rig has been designed by James Byam Shaw of Maldon and sails and rigging (which need to be purchased) are all measured and ready to be made by Jeckells sailmakers if required. The boat is currently fitted with a Ford Thornycroft 2700 (80hp) engine. This has approximately 100 engine hours and was reclaimed from another vessel, the engine was tested by DB Marine in February 2020 and is operational. A bow thruster has partly been installed, and part of the hydraulic steering system is also installed (please see photos). Window frames have also been crafted. Some interior panelling has been installed too (see photos).
There is a small list of additional equipment suited to the vessel which is included within the price, key items are stanchions, bollards, propeller and engine instruments.
The vessel has an EU Declaration of Conformity and design and construction assessment for category A (ocean) but a full RCD will need to be obtained when the vessel is complete.
In the brokers opinion, we believe the end result, once the build is complete, could be a beautiful Bruce Roberts Spray, the overall colour scheme combined with the varnished wood mast are sure to make this an attractive yacht which will turn heads wherever she goes. Her voluminous hull will provide a light and spacious interior, and her shoal draft will allow her to explore shallow waters.
