Broker Remarks

Built along the lines of a tradition Scottish motor fishing vessel, "Halcyon" was the last of some 32 Inchcapes built. She is a sound and proven sea vessel. "Halcyon" is configured with two sleeping cabins, with en suite facilities. There are further sleeping berths in the saloon. She has generous 6' plus headroom throughout. "Halcyon" has had just two owners from new. The current owner has owned her for more than 10 years. She has extensively cruised the Baltic and Norway since arriving back from Portugal where the original owner kept her."Halcyon" is currently ashore at Northney Marina, Hayling Island for a mainly cosmetic re-fit, where she can be viewed.

Accommodation

2 sleeping cabins and a saloon/galley. The aft cabin is accessed from the rear of the wheel house, whilst the saloon/galley and fore cabin are accessed from the front of the wheel house.

Fore cabin
Two single bunk berths with blue cotton covers and lockers beneath. Four fixed port lights. Hanging locker. Forepeak chain locker.

Forward Heads Compartment
Washbasin with shaving point, cabinet and mirror. Locker and towel rail. Hot and cold pressurized water system, including 8 litre header tank. Simpson & Lawrence Kentigern sea toilet. Lino flooring. Separate shower compartment opposite, with GRP lined floor.

Saloon
Large light and airy saloon with opening windows and port lights. Secured dining table, with L-shaped seating around (lockers beneath). [1 x light weight folding armchair.] 2 x pilot berths, with curtains for privacy. Side board for stowage.

Galley
Stainless steel sinks with drainer, hot and cold pressurized water. 4 burner gas hob; microwave with combination oven and grill. Large, deep top-opening fridge, plus a smaller front opening fridge.

Wheelhouse
Companionway steps fore and aft to accommodation. L-shaped seating. Chart table, with stowage for charts. Helmsman's chair on telescopic pedestal. Signal flag pigeon holes.

Aft Heads Compartment
Sea toilet. Wash basin with pressurized hot and cold water. Shaver socket, cabinet and mirror. Towel rail. Lino floor covering with a GRP lined shower cubicle floor.

Aft Cabin
Two single bunk berths, with lockers beneath. Dressing table with mirror. [Wardrobe]; shelving and lockers. Escape hatch to aft deck. Access to the engine room is via the aft cabin.

Construction
"Halcyon" is of carvel planked iroko (1.5") fastened onto oak frames with galvanised fastenings and cascover sheathed. The deck is cascover sheathed 3/4" marine plywood. Bulwarks are larch and iroko with a varnished hardwood toprail. Rubbing strake is oak. The wheelhouse and coach roofing is constructed of marine plywood and iroko, with the interior of pitch pine. "Halcyon" has been re-varnished inside and out, as part of the current re-fit. Her exterior hull has also now been re-painted shortly.
Part 1 Registered (Official Number 904570) until 11 September 2011.

Engine
Single Mermaid (Ford 2725E) 6-cylinder 120hp diesel engine (approx. 4,500 hours). Shaft driven fixed 3-bladed propeller. The stainless steel propeller shaft was replaced approx. 5 years ago. The engine has been recently serviced Wheel steering via a hydraulic steering system (hydraulic pump etc recently replaced). Bow-thruster.

Tankage
2 x fresh water tanks (steel): 1200 litres (264 gals) and 850 litres (188 gals). 2 x 850 litres (188 gallons) fuel tanks (steel), with funnel filler.
Fuel consumption is approximately 5 litres/hour @ 1500 rpm, giving a speed of 5.5 kts. In motor-sailing mode, with a good wind, "Halcyon" can achieve 8 knots.

Electrical System
Two sets of heavy duty batteries [totaling 200Ah], with a switch over mechanism. The start batteries were replaced in 2009, the service batteries in 2008. Battery charger. Paguro 3000 24v DC generator (not currently working). 24v and 240v ring main throughout vessel, with various sockets.

Rig
Ketch rig. Varnished solid Oregon pine masts and booms. The masts are set in galvanised painted tabernacles. Mainsail, with reefing points and Mizzen sail. 2 x matching jibs (for running), plus one larger foresail. All sails are tan coloured. Green canvas sail covers. The original galvanised standing rigging has been replaced with stainless steel wire. The running rigging will be renewed, as part of the re-fit, by Arun Sails.

Jabsco bilge pump run from the engine.
Manual Whale Gusher bilge pump (sited on deck in the gas locker).
Rope cutter on the shaft.
Deck lights mounted on both main and mizzen masts.
2 x fire extinguishers.
3 x life buoys.

Other Equipment
Avon RIB and 4hp Yamaha outboard. The RIB is stowed on chocks on the aft deck. Green cover.
Warps and 4 fenders.
Bucket, deck brush and boat hook.
Boarding ladder.
Ventilated gas locker aft of the wheel house, containing 2 x 15kg gas bottle and regulator.
3m folding aluminium boarding gangway.
