Leading yachting magazine, Cruising World has announced the winners of its 19th annual Boat of the Year awards. The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 379 was named Best Midsize Cruiser 36 to 40 feet and the best Domestic Boat of the Year.
The Marc Lombard designed Sun Odyssey 379 has been making waves all around the world. Since its official introduction earlier this year at the Sydney Boat Show in Australia, the 379 has proven adaptable to the needs of every sailor. The Sun Odyssey 379 won the two prestigious awards from an independent panel of experts, who inspected and tested 22 nominated boats following the U.S. Sailboat Show in Annapolis, USA, earlier this year. Decisions were based on extensive dockside inspections and sea trials of the boats.
The Sun Odyssey 379 was the whole package, a boat that sails exceedingly well with a smart, functional layout, said Boat of the Year director and Cruising World senior editor Herb McCormick. The judging panel was particularly impressed with the boats dual helms and outstanding manoeuvrability under sail and power.
