1970 Westerly Centaur £9,995
The Westerly Centaur needs little introduction. This popular Laurent Giles design is a tough little family cruiser with a surprisingly spacious interior. They represent excellent value for money and are a very inexpensive way of getting afloat. This example has been re-engined 2005 and in nice condition.

Accommodations

The accommodation is the 'B' layout slightly modified, offering five berths in two cabins with standing headroom throughout. In the forecabin, V berth with infill and stowage under. Opening hatch to foredeck. Full width heads compartment with chemical toilet (sea cocks in place to add marine toilet if required), sink with electrically pumped water supply. Hanging locker.  In saloon, dinette to port with galley opposite. Two burner gimballed gas hob with grill. Sink with electrically pumped water supply. 12 gallons freshwater capacity. Quarter berths port and starboard. Upholstery in blue Draylon. Gas heating onboard.

Masthead rigged Bermudan sloop. Anodised aluminium deck stepped mast and boom, spinnaker pole.  Stainless steel standing rigging replaced (2007).  Terylene running rigging (2014).  Slab reefing mainsail.  Headsail furling system.

Mechanical Systems

Located abaft the companionway, a 2005 Beta BD722 three-cylinder 20hp diesel engine (hours 453 as of 23rd July 2018).  Electric start. Indirect cooling (last serviced May 2018) Shaft drive to three bladed propeller. Single lever control.  10 gallons fuel capacity. 5 knots cruising speed. Maximum speed under power 6.5 knots. Cutlass bearing replaced May 2018, last antifouled May 2018.

Electrical Systems

2 x 12 105Ah volt batteries, charging from the engine alternator. Shore power connection with 240-volt ring main.
