Enigma is a yacht from the well known mark of Van de Stadt built by Tyler Boats Co. with good sea keeping qualities and rebust construction.This is an unusual vessel having the hull , deck, superstructure and engine been built in the 1970s but only having been commisioned in 2008. The present owner has completed the fitting out and refurbishment of the boat over a three year period with the majority of equipment purchased between 2007 and 2009.

Accommodation

The accommodation offers five berths in two cabins. Forecabin with vee berth, which can accommodate an adult and child.  The saloon has two blue newly upholstered benches which convert to two single bunks with an additional pilot berth located on the starboard side. The heads, with a marine toilet (new 2010), is located on the starboard side between the forecabin and saloon with additional locker space on the port side.

Galley:

The galley is equipped with a gimballed 2-burner gas cooker with oven and grill (new pipework and fittings/corgi regestered), galley stainless steel sink with manually pumped new cold water supply and ample stowage. Crockery and cutlery included.

Mechanical and Rigging

The hull, decks and superstructure were constructed of GRP by Tyler Boat Co. in the 1970s. The vessel is tiller steered via a skeg hung rudder with a fin keel. Has been lifted out, antifouled and polished April 2012 ready for the new season.

Mechanical:
Enigma is powered by a 1970s Kubota 10hp, sea water cooled, diesel engine, which was first run after a full refurbishment in 2008 and has a mere 49 hours on the clock. It achieves a comfortable 4.5 knot cruising speed with 5-6 knots available top speed.

Rigging and Sails:
Masthead rigged, slab reefing main with cover and roller reefing genoa using a plastimo 6085 furler. She is fitted with stailess steel standing rigging, stanchions and handrails and is equipped with anodised aluminimum spars. All sails, rigging and deck gear were fitted over a two year period between 2007 and 2008.

12V electrical system with two batteries fitted (2007).
240V Waeco IU152A battery charger. (2009)
Shower power via galvanic isolator and 30mA RCD (2006).
