2009 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 42 DS for sale in Kent

This 2009 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 42 DS built to 2010 specification and first sold in 2010 has three cabins and two en-suite heads is in excellent condition. This yacht was the 2009 Southampton Boat Show yacht. This yacht has been specified for easy self-sufficient sailing with the minimal crew with in-mast furling mainsail, furling genoa, fridge, freezer, autopilot, diesel cabin heating and much much more. This yacht has also had many upgrades including Flexi-teak decks, new chart plotter, new sails and Liferaft, This vessel has all that you need to live aboard. It has only 1061 engine hours as at 8th January 2024 and is only being sold as the owner is retiring from sailing. This yacht has just been re-launched May 2024 following its annual out of water service.

Accommodation

This Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 42DS  will sleep nine people in 2 double aft cabins, one double forward cabin and the saloon which has a double and single berth.

The large owners cabin forward has a central double berth. Hanging lockers and shelving to cabin sides. Private en-suite heads compartment with marine toilet, wash basin with shower head with hot and cold water supply. The Forward cabin also has a large opening deck hatch which makes it light and airy. 

The saloon has U-shaped seating to starboard and bench settee to port with “Ambiance Jaguar” upholstery in the saloon. The saloon has a large table with folding leaf's to enable it to convert to a double berth. It has a Tv Ariel. There is a sliding Chart Table which moves to provide a forward facing chart table or slide back to provide additional seating space on the port side. Diesel cabin heating has been fitted to the saloon, all cabins and heads. The saloon as a Stereo/CD player with Bose speakers in the saloon and cockpit. 

The L-shaped galley is to starboard. It has twin stainless steel sinks. 12 v fridge with freezer compartment. Two burner gas stove with oven and grill. There is lots of storage in the galley for pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, and food. 

There are two good sized aft cabins with hanging lockers, shelves and 32" and opening portholes.  There is an Aft heads compartment to port with access from saloon and aft port cabin. This heads as a marine toilet with holding tank, wash basin with hot and cold water supply and shower.

Companionway steps lead you up to the cockpit which is extremely spacious with a central teak cockpit table with folding leaf's, a range of lockers and twin helms with easy accesses to the transom. It also has a full cockpit enclosure. 

Mechanical and Rigging

Sails and Spars:

The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 42DS is a fractional rigged sloop with silver anodised Seldon alloy decked stepped mast. It has in-mast furling mainsail and furling genoa with all lines led aft to the cockpit. It has a Gas rod kicker. It has a German Mainsheet system which makes sailing the yacht single handed very easy.  It is also fitted with an asymmetrical spinnaker bow sprit pole and gear.  

Winches:

  • 2 x Harken self-tailing coach roof halyard winches - 1 x Electric  
  • 2 x Harken self-tailing genoa winches.
  • 2 x Mainsheet winches.

Mechanical Systems:

This Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 42DS has a Yanmar 4JH5E 54hp  4 cylinder diesel engine located under the companionway steps with 1061 hours as of 18th January 2024, full service history. Engine was last serviced in July 2023. Shaft drive to a three blade folding propeller with rope cutter. Freshwater cooled via heat exchanger. Single lever controls at starboard helm position. Cutlass bearing was last changed in July 2023 and shaft bearing 2021. 

This yacht has a plastic fuel tank that will hold 130 litres. She will cruise at 7 knots at approx. 2200 RPM and has a maximum speed of 9 knots. She has a through tunnel 4HP bowthruster fitted. 


Electrical Systems:

5 x 110Ah 12v batteries (3 domestic new 2021 + 1 Engine  new 2021), 1 X Bowthruster battery new 202021, all charging from the engine 50AH alternator. It has a 220v shore power system with ring main with 220v sockets throughout, 40AH battery charger and immersion heater.

Built by Jeanneau in 2009 to 2010 specification and first sold in June 2010 this Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 42DS has a superb specification. White GRP hull with teak cockpit floor and Flexi-teak side decks and bathing platform. Cast iron deep fin keel. 4HP Bowthruster in tunnel. Hot and cold transom shower. Stainless steel bathing ladder. Last out of the water March 2023 when antifouled, anodes changed and hull polished. Cutlass bearing was also changed at this time. the owner is only selling as they are retiring from sailing. This yacht has just been re-launched May 2024 following its annual out of water service.
