Broker Remarks

"Fair Westering" must the best example around of the robust and seaworthy Sovereign 32. From her immaculate interior to her stainless steel radar arch, she exudes quality. Lovingly maintained and updated she has been kitted out for some serious long-distance cruising. "Fair Westering" has been re-engined, re-rigged, re-canvased, re-wired, re-teaked, re-chained and re-epoxied, all within the last 4 -5 years. Accommodation

Saloon has excellent headroom, with the battened headlining in good condition. The saloon area is carpeted. Excellent stowage beneath and behind the two settee berths, lockers above. All the lockers are fully lined. Porthole curtains and matching settee cushions. Upholstery throughout is blue vinyl, with white piping. Good-sized lifting chart table, with GPS, VHF, chart-plotter, weather displays and electrical switch panel. Two single berths, one with trotter-box.

Quarter berth (with lee cloth) and wet-locker. Folding saloon table, with 2 drawers. Blaupunkt stereo system (DAB/FM/AM/LW + iPod dock) and 2 speakers. Clock and barometer. Ceiling light in saloon, lights at chart table and galley and 2 brass reading lamps.

Galley with top opening fridge - Isotherm (water-cooled). 2-burner hob, grill and oven (Neptune 2500). Sink with pressurized hot and cold water. Also manual pump, with in-line filter.

Forward cabin comprises 2 single berths in a V-configuration. Lee cloths. Opening hatch and good stowage. Large hanging locker opposite the heads. 2 brass reading lamps.

Heads compartment with Lavac sea-toilet. Sink with hot and cold pressurized water. GRP shower tray. Stowage space, mirror and toiletries rack. The forward cabin can be shut off for privacy by opening either the heads door, or the hanging locker door.

Mechanical and Rigging

Designer: Ian Anderson. Builder: Uphams of Brixham (fit-out) and Malting Boats (hull). Hull 20 of 30.
Wheel steering. Keel is a long fin with full skeg configuration. Hull has been epoxied and Coppercoated (2005). Painted decks (Awlgrip) and teak cockpit (2006).

Engine
Single Yanmar 3JH3 39hp diesel; shaft driven fixed 3-bladed propeller. Engine installed 2005, approx 490 hours on the engine hour meter. Hydraulic shaft brake.
Fuel tank: 30 gallons (136 litres); Water tank: 60 gallons (273 litres). Fuel tank dipstick.

Electrical System
Shore power and 240 volt ring main with sockets in galley, at chart table and in saloon. 12 volt sockets in front cabin (e.g. for dinghy inflator) and at chart table. 2 x 110Ah domestic batteries and 1 x engine start battery (new in 2009). Adverc smart regulator. BEP Marine battery monitor. Battery selector switch. Dolphin battery charger. 240v shore power lead and meter. The entire boat was re-wired and a new switch panel installed just 2 years ago.

Rig and Sails
Hood Vektran sails: main (slab-reefed); furling genoa (2006). Hood Stackpack cover and lazy-jacks (2006). Spinnaker and spinnaker gear, including pole. Hanked on storm jib. Spare main and genoa halyards. Various spare sheets. Spare sails (serviceable): Main (Westaway), with green canvas cover; and Genoa (Ratsey & Lapthorne). Sprayhood and cockpit extension (Arun). Canvas winter cover and various lay-up items (e.g. dorade vent blanking plates). Boat was completely re-rigged in 2006, including a new Harken genoa furling unit. An emergency inner forestay was also fitted at this time.

Radar and chart-plotter - Raymarine RL70C. Extra Garmin (120 XL) GPS.
VHF - Raymarine Ray54E. Extension speaker in cockpit.
Sailing instruments (Wind, Speed/log, Depth) - Raymarine ST60+ (all new).
Autopilot - Raymarine wheelpilot and ST4000+ display.
Navtex and Weatherman (NASA Clipper).
There is also a Raymarine ST100+ Tillerpilot for the Hydrovane wind vane.

Ground Tackle
1 x Spade anchor and chain, plus 1 x 35lb CQR with 10m chain and 75m(?) warp and 1 x Fortress (as kedge). Twin bow rollers. Manual Simpson Lawrence anchor windlass.

Deck Equipment
Wind vane self steering - Hydrovane. Bracket for attaching electronic Raymarine Tiller Pilot to Hydrovane. Stainless steel radar arch. Crane for outboard; outboard bracket.
Stainless steel mainsheet traveler (built 2006).
Winches: 2 x Lewmar 40 ST; 3 x Lewmar 16 ST. Various rope clutches.
Backstay adjuster.
Swim ladder; boarding gates port and starboard.

Safety Equipment
