1986 Southerly 100
This Southerly 100 is an extremely comfortable cruising yacht with a lifting keel which is ideal for exploring the shallow waters of the East Coast and beyond and is suitable for a drying mooring. She also has an inside wheel steering position in the pilothouse below decks. This yacht is presented in fair condition for her age. The owner is only selling due to health issues. Viewing highly recommended.

Accommodation

The Southerly 100 offers six berths in two cabins with 7ft max headroom. The Forecabin has two overlapping single berths. Opening hatch to foredeck and lots of storage space. The Saloon with its C-shaped dinette to port which converts to a double berth with a settee opposite. Blue velour upholstery. The Chart table and steering position is to starboard. It is rare to find these days but this Southerly 100 has her internal steering wheel still fitted although it has been disconnected. The chart table area has lots of storage and room for additional instruments. The Galley is to port with twin stainless steel sinks with hot and cold pressurised water system heated by the engine and immersion heater. There is 200 litre of freshwater capacity. There is a Plastimo two-burner gas cooker with grill and oven, and Coolbox. Radio. There is a Quarter berth to port aft and a separate heads compartment with marine toilet shower and washbasin to starboard. Diesel heating system new 2019.

Sails and Spars

Masthead rigged Bermudian sloop. Silver anodised aluminium deck stepped mast, boom, and spinnaker pole. Stainless steel standing rigging (age not known). Terylene running rigging, slab reefing mainsail with lazyjacks, headsail furling system. Manual adjustable backstay. Lines led aft to cockpit.

Mechanical System

Located behind the companionway is a Yanmar three-cylinder, 30hp inboard diesel engine. Electric start, freshwater cooled. Shaft drive to three-bladed fixed propeller. Rope cutter on shaft. Single lever controls at outside helm. 120 litre fuel capacity (note the tank has a small leak).  Last serviced October 2020. cutlass bearing last changed in August 2016.

Electrical System

2 x 12-volt batteries 2017 (1 x engine + 1 x domestic) charging from the engine alternator and battery charger via a 240-volt shore power system, battery charger with management system, solar panel.

History and Construction

Built by Northshore Yachts Ltd 1986. White coloured GRP hull and superstructure with moulded white coloured non-slip decks. Cast iron lifting keel. Wheel steering in cockpit with skeg hung rudder. Self-draining cockpit. Teak laid cockpit floor. Currently out of the water December 2021. Owned by the current owner for past 14 years.
