Sigma 35 yacht  "RUSH" is for sale in Kent


This 1991 Sigma 35 yacht called "Rush", designed by David Thomas and built by Marine Projects Ltd, is a cruising, racing yacht with good sailing performance. The yacht features a white GRP hull with a matching white superstructure and decks, as well as non-slip surfaces, stainless steel stanchions, a pulpit, and a self-draining cockpit.

Navigation Equipment includes Raymarine Depth Gauge, Speed/Log and Windspeed/Direction. Other navigation equipment includes a Garmin 152 GPS and an Icom VHF. This vessel last out of the water in March 2025 for re-antifouling, anode replacement and hull polish.  

This vessel has been well maintained by the current owner for the last 17 years. The cutlass bearing was last replaced in 2022, and the 1991 Volvo Penta diesel engine benefits from a full top-end refurbishment in 2011.

Accommodation

The Sigma 35 provides accommodation for six people across three cabins.  

The forward cabin features a double V-berth with an infill and under-berth and cupboard storage. This area is completed with an overhead opening porthole, providing natural light and ventilation.

The main saloon features a centre table with booth style seating to port and a single settee to starboard. Behind the backrests, you'll find shelves and lockers for additional storage, with more space available beneath the seating. The booth area can be converted into a double berth, while the starboard settee easily transforms into a single berth with a lee cloth.

The galley is located on the port side at the aft end of the saloon, featuring a double stainless-steel sink with pressurised hot and cold water, a Plastimo Atlantic two-burner gas cooker with an oven, and ample cupboard storage. This vessel benefits from a 160-litre freshwater capacity with hot water being provided by an engine Calafire water heater.   

Opposite the galley on the starboard side is a forward-facing chart table. This area includes an Icom VHF with DSC, a Garmin GPS, a Sony FM/CD Radio, vessel control panel and battery switches. This area also includes chart storage under the table and a storage cupboard.

Located behind the chat table is the heads compartment, which includes a marine sea toilet with a white sink mounted in a vanity unit with pressurised hot and cold, a mirror, additional storage beneath the sink and an integrated shower with a teak shower grating with a shower curtain.

Located at the stern of the saloon behind the galley is the rear cabin featuring a generous double berth over 6 feet in length and a practical standing area for dressing. This cabin also offers a variety of storage options, including shelving, hanging lockers, and an additional under-berth lockers for added convenience.

This vessel also benefits from a Eberspächer D3L cabin diesel heater that was replaced in 2014.

The companionway steps lead up to the cockpit with bench seats and a deep locker on the starboard side, a central binnacle with wheel steering, engine controls and the navigation instruments are located around the companion way and base of the mast.

Mechanical and Rigging

Sails and Spars:

This Sigma 35 has a Fractional Bermudan sloop rig, with a deck stepped Kemp anodised aluminium mast with twin spreaders and a Kemp boom, with stainless steel standing rigging that was replaced in 2008, and the running rigging was replaced in 2006.  

This vessel has a furling headsail with a Furlex Furler that was replaced in 2006 and a slab reefing mainsail with lazy jacks and a manually adjustable backstay, and kicker.

Mechanical Systems:

This Sigma 35 is powered by a single Volvo Penta 2003, 3-cylinder 28hp diesel engine, powering a shaft-driven 2-bladed folding propeller with a rope cutter. This engine is complete with Morse controls. This engine is supplied by a 50-litre PVC fuel tank. This yacht will cruise at approximately 6 knots and has an approximate maximum speed of 7 knots. This Volvo Penta diesel engine benefits from a full top-end refurbishment in 2011 and was last serviced by the owner in February 2024. The engine hours are unknown.

Electrical Systems:

This yacht is equipped with three 12-volt batteries: (1 x Engine, 100ah, 2023 + 2 x Domestic, 200ah, 2022). These batteries charge directly from the engine alternator.

This vessel benefits from a battery management system and also from a 240-volt shore power system, with outlets throughout the vessel.

History and Construction:

This Sigma 35 was built in 1991 by Marine Projects LTD to a David Thomas Design. The boat has a white GRP hull with a white superstructure and decks with non-slip surfaces, with stainless steel stanchions, a stainless-steel pulpit, a fin keel with a spade rudder and a self-draining cockpit.

The yacht has had three previous owners and was purchased by the current owner in 2008 to be used for cruising and racing while winning at many events. The current owner has well-maintained the vessel. “Rush” was last out of the water in March 2025 for re-antifouling, anode replacement and hull polish. The cutlass bearing was last replaced in 2022.

The owner has enjoyed the vessel for the last 17 years but is selling due to a change of circumstances.
