General Remarks

The Moody 346 remains one of Bill Dixon's most successful cruising yacht designs, combining comfortable accommodation, reassuring handling and practical offshore capability. Quintet is a well-presented example of this popular centre cockpit cruiser and offers a particularly attractive two-cabin layout, providing excellent separation between guest and owner accommodation.

The spacious aft owner's cabin is a standout feature, offering considerably more privacy and living space than many yachts of similar length. Combined with the generous saloon and practical galley arrangement, the Moody 346 has earned a reputation as an excellent choice for extended cruising, coastal exploration and comfortable time aboard with family and friends.

Under the current ownership for approximately three years, Quintet appears to have been well cared for and benefits from a programme of recent maintenance. In June 2026 the engine was serviced, the hull polished, fresh antifouling applied and anodes replaced, helping prepare the yacht for the season ahead. A 2023 survey is also available for review upon request.

On deck, the centre cockpit provides a secure sailing position, while the 2025 bimini enclosure offers additional protection from the elements when cruising or at anchor. Sail handling is straightforward thanks to the roller furling genoa and slab reefing mainsail, while the bow thruster assists manoeuvring in confined spaces.

I have always thought the Moody 346 strikes an excellent balance between sailing ability and onboard comfort, and Quintet appears to be a particularly honest example. The two-cabin layout is one of the main attractions for me, with the large aft owner's cabin providing a level of space and privacy rarely found on yachts of this size.

The current owners have had her for around three years and from what I have seen she appears to have been well looked after during that time. It's also encouraging to see recent maintenance including engine servicing, antifouling, anode replacement and a hull polish completed in June 2026. For anyone looking for a proven British cruising yacht with comfortable accommodation and practical features such as bow thruster, heating and centre cockpit security, Quintet is certainly worthy of consideration.
