Broker Remarks
This professionally built ferro MacAlister has cruised extensively, including trabs-Atlantic passages and is a serious live aboard long distance cruising boat. Many ferro boats have had poor press , mainly because they were of amateur build but the finish quality of this ketch has to be seen. There are many advantages with ferro............they can be left afloat for very long periods, they are osmosis free, they do not rot and they also do not rust. She had a major refit in 2005-2007 and has also been rewired throughout with much recent equipment. For anyone requiring a go anywhere cruisng boat this ketch should not be overlooked and viewing is recommended.
Accommodation
Double berth in forecabin, 3 singles in saloon and quarterberth. Galley with stainless steel sink and drainer, Parker gas cooker with 2 burners, grill and oven (2008). Heads compartment with Lavac sea water toilet, stainless steel holding tank (never used) Rinnai on demand gas water heater with shower attachment 2007 plus all new gas piping throughout 2007. Diesel heater fitted in saloon.
Mechanical and Rigging
MacAlister Carvall were based in Lymington in the 70's and 80's building a range of boats in ferro. She was professionally built and was exhibited at the 1980 Southampton Boat Show. She was constructed using weld mesh rather than chicken wire and in recent years the entire wooden deck and coachroof has been renewed with marine ply over laminated deck beams. Yanmar 2QM 20hp diesel rebuilt in 2006 by Yanmar agent Cellar Marine with approx 50 hours use since then. Fixed 3 blade propeller 2 x 150 litre stainless steel fuel tanks 100 litre flexible water tank new 2009 2 x 12v batteries each 90amp hour both 2007 charged by engine driven alternator 2008 and Rutland 913 wind generator 2007 Pressurised hot water system Kemp aluminium main and mizzen with stainless steel standing rigging. Uppers renewed 2009, age of remaining rigging unknown. Mainsail 2008 Genoa 2004 Staysail self tacking 2008 Mizzen 2008 Slab reefing to main and Plastimo 910S furling system fitted. 2 Antal 120 halyard winches 2 Antal 120 sheet winches
