Owners Remarks:
Spellbinder was purchased from new in 2006 with long distance cruising in mind. Building on the comprehensive specification and large fuel and water tank capacities of the HR40, augmented by a Spectra water maker, the addition of solar panels, wind generator and towed in-water generator has resulted in good electrical generating capacity. This system, including a 12V/140amp domestic engine alternator, is backed up by a Trojan deep cycle battery bank fitted in 2009.

As a professional marine and electrical Engineer the Owner has fitted all additional equipment himself and carried out all maintenance of the yacht, including preventive maintenance such as periodic tightening of hatch and window bolts and screws etc. An engineering log book has been kept and is included in the sale as are many pieces of spare gear including a goose neck, Jabsco FW pump, Loo pump and service kit etc.

A good communications package of Iridium phone and Sat C is fitted for ocean passage safety, weather forecasts and alert through the GMDSS.

Over many nautical miles of use including an Atlantic circuit and four years in the Mediterranean there have been no breakdowns affecting the sailing program involving many crew changes of friends and family.
