2007 Dufour 425 Grand Large for sale in Kent:
This 2007 built to 2008 Specification and commissioned in 2008 Dufour 425 Grand Large is a very well equipped and presented in very good condition having been well maintained and updated by the current owners. This is a serious cruising yacht with the added benefits of added comfort and a real feel of luxury. It has a  Volvo diesel engine D2-55, 55hp with 900 hrs.8 berths in 3 cabins, bow thruster, liferaft , diesel cabin heating, TV, teak decks. A full Raymarine electronics package which just makes this yacht the perfect go anywhere cruiser and is a must see. 

Accommodation

The Dufour 425 Grande Large offers eight berths in three cabins and the saloon with two heads and a linear galley. It also benefits from new upholstery in 2019. 

The Forward Owners cabin has a large island berth approximately 2m long with a 10cm thick mattress with washable cover. . Access to a stowage locker under berth. Full length shelf with sea-fiddle over the berth alongside the hull. Large hanging locker with shelves. There are also two small couches either side of cabin with lockers under. The forward cabin because of the portholes and opening deck hatch is very light and airy and has a real feel of luxury. A 290 litre plastic water tank is located under the forward berth. 

The owners cabin en-suite heads has a large heads compartment with separate walk in shower cubicle. There is a manual marine toilet which goes to the holding tank, moulded washbasin with pressurised hot and cold water, large mirror and chrome plated brass mixer tap with shower unit. The shower has direct drainage by an electric pump.

Aft of the owners cabin is the Saloon which has a large U-shaped settee ion the starboard side with cushions made out of foam with washable covers. A central fixed settee has a hinged stowage area underneath. Further stowage is available under seats and behind backrests. Stowage lockers with doors and bookshelf above the settee. The saloon table has a bottle rack in the centre and fiddles. The saloon table will drop to make into an additional double berth. .

Aft of the saloon is the Navigation station which has a large chart table that can take the large format charts The chart table has a hinged desk top giving great storage space. . An ergonomic wooden seat with stowage underneath and a  blue valour cushion. There is a 45 degree angled instrument console which has room for an array of instruments.

Opposite the Saloon area is the linear shaped galley with large Corian worktops Double stainless steel sink. Chrome plated brass mixer tap for pressurised hot and cold water. and a manual raw water foot pump. There is a three burner stove with oven  and grill on gimbals, a 12V electric refrigerator unit (130 litres) with freezer box. The galley area has lots of stowage with separated compartments for cutlery, crockery and cooking utensil as well as food. There are upper cabinets one of which houses a microwave oven.

Aft of the galley area is the second heads with a manual marine toilet, moulded washbasin with hot and cold water, large mirror and chrome plated mixer tap with shower unit. The shower has direct drainage by an electric pump. The marine toilet is connected to the 80 litre plastic holding tank.

Either side of the companionway steps which also houses the engine are two aft double berth cabins with approximately 2m long berths with10cm thick mattress with washable covers. A total of Five large hanging lockers with double doors and shelves above. Shelf with sea-fiddle over berth. Access behind engine, oddments tray on top. There is a 160 litre fuel tank under starboard berth and a 160 litre water tank under port berth. Battery switches on the vertical area of the starboard berth.

The companionway steps led up to the cockpit which has ample seating for eight people plus two people at the twin helms. There is good storage lockers including a dedicated liferaft locker. The folding transom gives easy access to the bathing platform. 

Mechanical and Rigging

Sails and Spars:

This Dufour 425 Grand Large  has a  fractional Bermudan rig with anodised aluminium deck stepped mast with double swept backed spreaders. Stainless steel standing rigging that was last professionally inspected in 2019 and some of the shrouds and upper foil replaced and furling gear fully serviced. The majority of the running rigging that was also replaced in 2019.

It has a Fully battened mainsail with three reefs with lazyjack and furling genoa with a Facnor furling system. All lines are led aft to the cockpit to make sail handling easy. There is an adjustable backstay.   

Winches:

  •  2 x Halyard winches, Harken 48 self-tailing
  • 2 x  Sheet winches, Harken 40 self-tailing

  • 1 x Mainsail, Dacron, 2008 last valeted 2021 condition good

Mechanical Systems:

This yacht is fitted with a Volvo diesel engine D2-55 (2008) 55hp with 4 cylinders that has competed approximately 900 hours as at 7th June 2023. The saildrive connects to a two blade bronze folding propeller. The sail drive gaiter was last diaphragm and clamping ring were last replaced in 2019. The saildrive hub, bearings and drive shaft assembly all replaced in 2022There is a 160 litre polyethylene fuel tank   Cruising speed 6 Maximum speed 7.5 . There is also a Maxpower 4HP retractable bowthruster fitted. 

Electrical Systems:

This yacht is fitted with four batteries, 2 x Domestic 105 AH domestic batteries, approximately 2 years old, 1 x 12V 85AH Engine  approximately 4 years old and 1 x 12V Bowthruster battery approximately 4 years old. All batteries are charged by the engine alternator and via a 240V shore power battery charger.  The yacht has a 240v shore power ring main with immersion heater.

History and Construction:

This Dufour 425 Grand Large built in 2007 to 2008 specification and commission in 2008 has a hand laminated GRP hull with Twaron reinforcements at keel area. The NPG gelcoat (the first layer of cloth is impregnated with NPG resin) forms an optimum barrier against osmosis. The Inner moulded hull bottom, structural grid are laminated to the hull. It has a Balsa core sandwich deck mad using the infusion process.

The keel is connected using stainless steel keel bolts and backing plates.  This yacht has been owned and exceptionally well maintained and updated by the current owners since 2019. She was last out of the water as she has been since owned by the current owner in April 2023 when she was professionally serviced, hull polished, antifouled outdrive leg oils changed, anodes changed, teak cleaned etc. A detailed list of maintenance undertaken since 2019 is available upon request
