Broker Remarks

Brokers Remarks:

The Island packet 420 is one of their most popular models; Island Packet built 111 of these boats, and Soulmate is number 102. In her second ownership since new, the current owners purchased her in 2006; she is well maintained and serviced regularly!

Island Packet has an excellent reputation for building true bluewater cruisers; she is equipped for this type of cruising with items such as a generator, large refrigerator, freezer, tremendous amount of storage, tender, stainless steel Simpson davits, bimini, reverse cycle air conditioning. She also comes with an Eberspacher diesel fired cabin heating for colder climates; the inventory list is extensive!

The boat has an encapsulated long keel with a protected rudder; she has the trademark ivory Island Packet gelcoat finish, which is excellent at minimising glare from the sun.

The boat has been designed to make passages as comfortable and as easily managed as possible; the Hoyt boom, self-tacking staysail combined with the in-mast furling mainsail makes sail trim and boat balance exceptionally easy for a short-handed crew combination.

Owners Comments:

We have been the proud owners of SOULMATE virtually since she was new. The original owner only had her for one year, and she has safely taken us to our favourite cruising grounds in the Channel Islands, North and West France and, of course, the south coast of England.

You will quickly realise the' over-spec alongside Euro counterparts for those unfamiliar with this prestigious marque from the United States. Huge tankage is standard (1000 litres of water), wiring is specced for 120 volts (US), so wiring is oversized throughout. All hanging lockers are lined with cedarwood, and the critical priorities of comfort, style and safety are delivered without compromise.

We often find when other yachts reef in lively conditions; that SOULMATE takes it in her stride, which imbues a strong sense of peace, security, and safety aboard.

Many ask about the distinctive ivory gel coat colour; this serves two crucial purposes apart from adding distinction and individuality. Firstly, the coloured additives in the gel coat make it less likely to oxidise or fade. Secondly, on the rare days of sunshine in UK waters, there is much less reflective glare.

An early inspection is recommended to confirm the extremely high build quality. Also, as the current skipper, I'd be happy to offer a 'handover' to help you get to know this remarkable yacht.
