“Typhoon” is a classic Moonraker 36, a model that continues to enjoy a loyal following thanks to its renowned combination of spacious accommodation, capable sea-keeping, economical cruising and timeless styling. Built during what many enthusiasts consider to be the marque’s finest production period, these well-respected motor cruisers remain highly sought after for both coastal cruising and extended stays aboard.

Offering generous living space and practical layouts throughout, “Typhoon” represents an excellent opportunity to acquire a characterful and capable British-built cruiser at an attractive price point. This vessel does require some TLC, and work on the engines and seacocks, but this is reflected in the price. The owner is open to offers for a quick sale.

Accommodation

The Moonraker 36 offers spacious and comfortable accommodation for up to six guests across three well-designed cabin areas, with excellent headroom of approximately 6ft throughout, creating a bright and airy feel onboard.

Forward, the inviting V-berth cabin provides comfortable guest accommodation, while the heads compartment to port is well equipped with a marine toilet, vanity unit and shower facilities. The compartment also houses the Worcester Bosch boiler, providing dependable hot water onboard.

The main saloon is both practical and welcoming, featuring a generous U-shaped seating area which easily converts into an additional double berth when required, making the boat ideal for extended cruising or entertaining family and friends. Opposite, the galley is thoughtfully arranged and well equipped with a stainless-steel sink, Dometic gas oven with three-burner hob, microwave and refrigerator, offering everything needed for comfortable onboard living. Fresh water is supplied from a substantial 410-litre tank, with hot water available via the immersion heater system.

A spacious aft cabin provides a comfortable double berth along with plentiful storage space, making it particularly well-suited for longer stays aboard. Throughout the vessel, heating is provided by an Eberspacher diesel heating system together with the added comfort and character of a log burner, ensuring a warm and cosy atmosphere in all seasons.

The wheelhouse offers excellent visibility from the helm position to port and is fitted with full instrumentation and engine controls, creating a practical and sociable space whilst underway.

Externally, the aft deck provides an excellent seating and entertaining area, ideal for relaxing in harbour or enjoying time afloat, with convenient access to the transom boarding ladder.

Mechanical and Rigging

Mechanical Systems:

The Moonraker 360 is powered via twin Perkins T6354 145hp turbocharged engines, twin lever control. Unfortunately, we have no information on when they were last serviced or run.  Shaft drive to twin 4-bladed bronze propellers. 900 litres of fuel capacity in one tank. The engines do require work before the boat would be ready to use. 

Electrical Systems:

This motor boat has 3 x 12-volt 125AH domestic batteries, 2 x 12-volt engine batteries, 125AH, charging from the engine alternators and a 12-volt battery charger. Some of the batteries do require replacement. Shorepower connection with 240-volt ring main, water heated via immersion heater.

History & Construction

Built in 1Circa 1974 this Moonraker 36  has a white GRP hull and decks with non-slip surfaces. Wheel steering. Aluminium toe rails. Stainless steel stanchions, pulpit. Walk through the transom gate to the boarding ladder. Self-draining cockpit. It is currently out of the water in May 2026. The vessel has been used as a liveaboard in the early 2020's. The vessel is being sold as the owner has passed away.
