Broker Remarks

The Biscay 36, as anyone who has been following the Golden  Globe race will have seen is an incredible sailing yacht, designed by Alan Hill and built to a high standard by Falmouth Boat Construction. The Biscay 36 is a very capable long distance passage maker and many have undertaken some remarkable trips.  This yacht has been owned by the current owner for two years. Recent upgrades include new rigging, new batteries and a new battery chargers. The owner is selling due to a change in location. 

Accommodation

This Biscay 36’s accommodation of  5 berths is comprised of a forward cabin with a double bed with very good stowage, a self-contained heads with a marine toilet and sink with pressurised cold water. There are two single settee sea berths in the saloon, and a quarter berth further aft of the chart table. The saloon is comfortable and has a good sized saloon table. 

This Biscay 36 has plenty of storage space for pilot books, navigation aids and  plenty of good sized locker storage. Aft and to port is a safe and well contained galley comprised of twin sinks, a 2-burner gas oven and a coolbox.

To Starboard is a good-sized chart table and navigation area. This yacht has a 250L capacity of pressurised freshwater. The cockpit is very spacious and also has good sized storage lockers. 

Mechanical and Rigging

Sails and Spars:

This Biscay 36 has a deck step Bermudan sloop masthead rig. This yacht has an alloy mast, boom and spinnaker pole. The stainless-steel standing rigging was replaced in 2021 as well as the running rigging. The mainsail has slab reefing with a Bamar furling system for the headsail which was added in 2021.

Mechanical Systems:


This Biscay 36 has a Yanmar 30HP, 3-cylinderdiesel engine. This engine is indirectly cooled and a shaft drive to a fixed 3-blade propeller. This yacht has two fuel tanks, The fuel main tank is stainless steel and it is also fitted with a plastic day tank. This yacht reaches a max speed of 6kn and has a cruising speed of 5kn. The engine was last serviced in January 2022 by the owner.

Electrical Systems:

This yacht is fitted with 3 x 12v batteries from early 2022. 2 x domestic 100 AH Lithium batteries  1 x 125 AH engine start battery. These batteries are charging via the alternator and solar panels. These batteries are managed by a Sterling BB1260  battery management system.. This yacht has a 240-volt system shore power system fitted.

History:

This Biscay 36 built in Falmouth, 1978 was designed by Alan Hill. The deck, hull and superstructure are of GRP construction. Keel hung rudder to a traditional long keel. This yacht was antifouled and had the anodes replaced in July 2021, when it was last ashore. This yacht has had 2 previous owners.
