This 1976 Mystere 26 is a solidly constructed family cruiser, offering fantastic accommodation for its size. It features a double forward cabin, a double berth, and a quarter berth in the saloon, providing ample space for relaxation.

The boat has been well-maintained by the current owner and benefits from a depth gauge, speed and log, VHF, Autopilot and Chartplotter/GPS.  The owner is selling as they no longer have enough time to enjoy the boat. Vessel was last surveyed in 2024.

Accommodation

This Mystere 26 offers a comfortable layout with four berths across one cabin. The forward cabin features a double berth with under-bed and shelf storage, two port holes and an opening hatch for ventilation. Moving aft located on the starboard side is the heads compartment, featuring a marine sea toilet.

The main saloon offers settee seating to port and a single mattress berth to starboard with under berth, cupboard and shelf storage. Two non-opening windows fill the space with natural light.

The galley is located on the port side aft in the saloon and is equipped with a single stainless-steel sink with manually pumped cold water, a two-burner gas hob with a grill and storage space around the galley.  A quarter berth is located opposite the galley to the starboard side, with the vessel control switches, echo sounder, VHF, and a wall mounted TV above.

The companionway leads up to a spacious aft cockpit with bench seating on either side, a central binnacle with wheel steering, and engine controls.

Mechanical and Rigging

Spars & Sails:

This Mystere 26 is a masthead Bermudan sloop rig with a decked stepped aluminium mast and boom with stainless-steel standing rigging. It has slab reefing mainsail with a foresail furling system. The running rigging has been replaced as needed and the age of the standing rigging is unknown.

Winches:

Sails: 

  • 1 x Mainsail - Age unknown but in good condition.
  • 1 x Genoa – Age unknown but in good condition.

Mechanical Systems:

This Mystere 26 is fitted with a Beta two-cylinder diesel engine driving a shaft driven three bladed fixed propellor. Some service history is available for this engine.  The engine hours are unknown. 

The engine is sea water cooled with cockpit morse controls. This yacht will cruise at approximately five knots and has a maximum speed of seven knots. 

Electrical Systems:

2 x 12-volt batteries (1 x engine + 1 x domestic battery) charging from the alternator and a solar panel.

This vessel also benefits from a battery management system to regulate the charging from the solar panel.

History & Construction:

Designed by Fred Parker, this monohull sailing boat was built in circa 1976 by Fairways Marine Ltd. 

The Mystere 26 features a white fibreglass hull with a white superstructure with non-slip decks, a wooden rubbing streak and a fibreglass toe rail. The cast iron fin keel, together with a skeg-hung rudder ensures good stability and tracking.

The vessel was last ashore in May 2025. The owner has enjoyed the vessel for the last 12 month and is now looking to sell the vessel due to lack of time to use the vessel.
