Old Gaffers

Gaff rigged yachts

Well the time has come and Mayflower International Marina hosts the Old Gaffers Rally (for one night only!) as part of a Round Britain Challenge to celebrate their 50th Anniversary. 20 Boats have already arrived for the Old Gaffers Rally and we are expecting approximately 30 traditional sailing boats to arrive  this afternoon of Wednesday 8th May.

During the evening we will have entertainment by The Tavy Tars singing sea shanties about love, lust and life at sea and with delicious food washed down with liberal quantities of local ale courtesy of Jolly Jacks (our excellent on site restaurant and bar) it should be an evening not to be missed.

The Old Gaffers Rally (OGA) will depart Mayflower Marina at 1000 on Thursday 9th May to undertake a two lap parade of sail around Plymouth Sound before heading off to the Isles of Scilly. (This is of course weather dependent and with gales forecasted you may be lucky if you cannot make it down to take a look at these stunning classic yachts, as some may still be here in the days to come so drop by.)
