One of the South East’s Premier Regattas with racing under IRC and NHC from expert to novice, family activities afloat and fantastic shore side fun – all welcome

Medway Yacht Club is delighted to invite competitors to attend and participate in the MYC Keel Boat Regatta – an event for all who enjoy sailing

Highlights

  • Three days of competitive racing for cruisers and one design classes
  • Racing under IRC and NHC handicap systems  – opportunities for both the serious and occasional racers
  • Varied format of racing including estuary races and windward / leeward courses for one design classes
  • Fantastic shore side fun and entertainment

  • Outstanding value at £40 includes all race fees, entrance to the party (food extra) and regatta t-shirts BUT we only guarantee t-shirts for entries received before 1st July
  • Free moorings for visiting competitors (subject to availability)

Classes

  • Class 1 – Keel boats with a NHC handicap of 0.889 and above
    • Duel scored under IRC and NHC
    • Trophies awarded overall, IRC only and NHC only
  • Class 2 – Keel boats with a NHC handicap of 0.888 and below
    • Duel scored under IRC and NHC
    • Trophies awarded overall, IRC only and NHC only
  • Class 3 – Keel boats with helms who don’t race regularly
    • Scored under NHC
    • Trophies overall
    • This class is for those who do not race on a regular basis
  • International Dragon one design
    • Two long estuary races / a day of windward leeward races (max 4 races) and a short in river race
  • Sonata one design
    • Two long estuary races / a day of windward leeward races (max 4 races) and a short in river race
  • Squib one design
    • One in river race per day

Treasure Hunt

The perfect opportunity for those not interested in racing who would like to get involved in MYC Regatta.

The treasure hunt will be run on Saturday afternoon. Participants will enjoy exploring the river above the forts looking for clues, answering questions, gathering items and undertaking tasks.  This really is an event for all and there will be extra points for such things as having three generations on board during the hunt.

You will be back in time to enjoy the Regatta party.

Shore Side

  • Thursday – after race BBQ
  • Friday – Regatta Dinner – drinks on the veranda at 19:30 Dinner at 20:00  – smart casual ~ yachting apparel ~ club tie
  • Saturday – Regatta Party – dancing to a four piece band – casual
  • Sunday – Regatta tea and prize giving
