1979 Westerly Pentland £19,950
The Westerly Pentland is one of five Westerly models all based on the same 31' hull designed by Laurent Giles. A wheel-steered, centre cockpit twin-keeled yacht, this example is a ketch version, a layout that maximises space in the cockpit and on deck. She appears to be well presented and maintained. A solid and dependable cruiser with the power to push through the waves. A 2017 survey report available on request.


The layout offers up to six berths with two double sleeping cabins separate from the main accommodation. In the forecabin, V berth with stowage under. Separate heads compartment to port with marine toilet, shower and washbasin. Hanging locker opposite. In saloon, two settee berths. Galley to starboard. Three burner Plastimo gimballed gas cooker with grill and oven. Stainless steel sink drainer. Hot and cold pressurised water system. 90 litre freshwater capacity. Refrigerator. Mechanical Systems

The Westerly Pentland is powered by a single Solé MN1 27hp three-cylinder diesel engine with 850 hours with service history, indirect cooling to shaft drive with 3 bladed fixed propellor. Last serviced November 2019, last out of water maintenance October 2019.

4 x 12-volt batteries 100Ah 2019 charging from the engine alternator, solar panel and wind generator, shore power connection with 240-volt ring main, immersion heater, battery charger with monitoring system and inverter.

History and Construction

Built by Westerly Marine Construction Ltd. in 1979. White GRP hull and white decks with grey painted non-slip surfaces. Cast iron twin keels. Wheel steering to skeg hung rudder. Self-draining centre cockpit. Epoxied below the waterline in 2004. Last surveyed in 2017.
