Broker Remarks
This Westerly Griffon Club 'Salty' has been in the careful ownership of her third owner for the last 22 years and has cruised the South Coast and the Channel Islands. Stored ashore every winter and never raced. The owner is now 91 and feels it might be time to ‘give up’ this popular family cruiser.
The Griffon was the first design that Westerly commissioned from Ed Dubois, and was intended to replace the long-running and incredibly successful Centaur. This ‘Club' version had a simpler interior than the other models to cut costs so that it was competitive with other manufacturers but maintained the Westerly build quality. Powered by a Bukh 20hp diesel engine last serviced in August of 2014. This 26 foot Westerly has bilge keels so can be used on a shallow or drying mooring.
There is remarkably accommodation for 5, with a double forepeak berth, 2 single settee berths and a quarter berth. The ingenious chart table is ‘stowable’ to maximise the space available.
Well equipped safety and navigation equipment. The owner is unsure of the date of the rigging, it could be original and he thinks that the sails are pre 2000.
When stepping aboard this boat you just know that it has been a much loved friend and all the interior woodwork is in good condition as is the upholstery. The compact galley area has a two burner gas cooker and oven sink and cool box, with stowage behind.
This cherished boat comes with her original Vat invoice, builders certificate and the full chain of bills of sale.
