Broker Remarks

The Westerly GK29 was a natural progression from the successful GK24. Introduced initially as a racing craft she proved very successful at all levels on the Solent. She was then offered as a family cruiser racer and during the 4 years she was in production 182 were built.
This particular model is the racing version and has the deeper (1.80M) lead ballast keel making her stiffer, the slightly longer keel stepped mast giving a larger sail area and the aluminium toe rail.
Over the years and during various different ownerships she has been adapted to a more cruiser/racer version. Self furling headsail, stack pack for mainsail, sprayhood and cabin heating have allowed the owner who likes to go fast have a more family/couples orientated yacht that is easy to handle with a small or inexperienced crew.
Engine was replaced 2008 for a larger Volvo 2002 and the navigation instruments have been overhauled with a new Standard Horizon colour plotter added 2016 and Raymarine wireless wind speed and depth instruments added 2017.

Accommodation

For what was an out and out racing boat, below decks is very comfortable. The yacht is well appointed with lots of teak woodwork and teak and holly flooring.
The upholstery is a warm brown/red and is well upholstered.
The star of the show is the paraffin fuelled, Taylor's cabin heater which warms the boat up in no time at all.
Saloon is entered from the cockpit and accessed by steps built into the engine housing.
Immediately to starboard is the galley with a gas fuelled stove with 2-burner hob, oven and grill. Adjacent is a stainless steel sink with cold pressurised water, a small preparation area and top loading coolbox. Good cupboard storage for supplies and bespoke glass and cup storage.
Opposite the galley is the chart table with  chart storage, switch panel and instruments including Navtex and Sailor VHF.
Aft is the pilot berth which although marketed as a double is more suitable as a large single.
The saloon features a central drop leaved table with central bottle storage. Either side is the saloon settee/berths and to port above the settee would have been an additional berth. The owner still has the cushions for this.
Moving forward though the saloon bulkhead and before the forward cabin is a hanging space and sink to starboard and to port a heads compartment with Jabsco sea toilet.
Forward cabin with double berth and infill cushion. Opening deck hatch for light and ventilation. Excellent storage beneath the bunks.
Great standing headroom throughout the yacht.
