Broker Remarks

This is a well equipped and updated Vindo 45, she is only in her second ownership since new and has had many of the major items replaced (engine, rigging, electronics, gelcoat). She is in excellent condition which is a testament to her current and previous owner.
The current owners have cruised her to the Caribbean and back so she is a well-proven vessel. The sailing performance of this vessel is excellent and ideal for long haul passages but she is comfortable as a coastal cruiser also.

Owners Remarks:
We purchased the boat from the original owner in 2002 who was based in Chichester and used the boat for local cruising.
When we took ownership we moved her down to South Devon, over the period of two years we refitted her in preparation for extended cruising. She had new sails, stack pack, standing rigging, running rigging, we led the reefing lines aft to the cockpit, Sailormat windvave self-steering system, and the hull had professional osmosis treatment and this was overseen by a surveyor to ensure the hull was completely dry before being epoxy coated!
Leaving the UK in May 2004 we sailed to Portugal and later that year crossed the Atlantic to the Caribbean, sailing 2,050 miles from the Cape Varde Islands to Barbados in 15 days. One tack all the way, the Sailormat did the steering!
We visited many well-known destinations but also many less known, including the Orinoco River, Colombia, San Blas Islands part of Panama, Bay Islands Honduras, Rio Dulce, Guatemala, Belize and Mexico. The summer spent in Maine and the voyage south to Florida along the intercoastal waterway was another highlight of the trip. The Bahamas are lovely as also were the West Indies. Returning to Britan via Bermuda, the Azores and Spain in 2009. During this time away ongoing maintenance and upgrading of equipment was done, for example, we had new gel coat applied in 2007!
Vindomar was excellent during this trip she kept us safe and proved to be comfortable and a dry boat for making long as well as short passages. Since our return, Vindomar has been kept on a mooring on the river Tamar with time ashore in the boatyard each winter. We have used her for coastal cruising and trips to the Channel Islands, France and the Scillies. A lot of single-handed sailing as well!
The teak on the coachroof has been replaced with Afromosia in 2014 (topical hardwood substitute to teak) and a new engine, gearbox and propeller in 2016. Now we are getting older it has come to the time to sell the boat on to someone else who will love it as much as we have!
