Broker Remarks

'Day at The Races' is a beautiful classic one-off design by Peter Nicholson .  This classic 35 footer was commissioned in 1966 for Sir Owen Aisher under the old One Ton Cup Rule  and built by the famous Camper & Nicholsons yard in Gosport.
She is a very competitive offshore and inshore racer /cruiser with a highly successful race pedigree.
She is now offered for sale with transferable mooring in the Beaulieu River. She had a major refit in 2001  with all structural and mechanical components replaced. The refit was done very sympathetically retaining the original features that makes Day at the Races such a very special and unique yacht. During the refit, she was fitted with a new engine and electrics, cooker and heads.  Then 9 years later in 2010 all electronic and navigation systems were upgraded.  In 2011 her mast and all rigging was replaced and upgraded, including a carbon fibre spinnaker pole.  She is for sale with a wardrobe of sails including Bruce Banks main and jib in Hydranet and a new Bruce Banks spinnaker.

This classic yacht is a real part of the UK's sailing history , she has been extremely well looked after and upgraded by her present owner. She is well known on the classic regatta scene and is ready for her next custodian to bring home the silverware.

She is available for viewing 7 days a week.

Accommodation

The accommodation for 6 is arranged with 2 main berths and 2 pilot berths in the central saloon, a navigators berth aft and one foreward in the forecastle.  The sides of the pilot bunks drop down for easy access.  The forecastle also doubles as a rope and spinnaker store.  Just foreward of the mast is a hanging space to port and the toilet and washbasin to starboard.

Mechanical and Rigging

The fresh water cooled Yanmar 2GM20 has been regularly maintained since being installed in 2001.  A two bladed 16" x 8" bronze propellor is driven directly through an Aquadrive flexible coupling and a maintenance free PSS seal by the engine and gearbox mounted infront of the companion way steps.  This means there is all around access to the engine for servicing. The Halyard exhaust system can divert warm water through the hull underwater to make for an extreemly quiet operation.

Inventory

The boat is equipped with a Force 10 Cooker with two burners, oven and grill, a Force 10 cabin heater, Jabsco marine toilet and two manual bilge pumps (one in the cabin and one in the cockpit).  An original chromed brass Whale hand pump vacates the galley basin.  The Sony Radio/CD can also play music from an iPhone or iPad.  Next to the comfortable chart table is an easy to use switchboard in which there are two 12v sockets for charging handheld VHF, chart plotter or phone, and a battery monitor. Winter all over and Summer cockpit covers. Sea Tiger anchor winch, chain/rope and two anchors.
