1981 Moody 29 for sale in Kent
The Moody 29 is a great family coastal cruising boat with a solid reputation for those aboard, to feel relaxed and comfortable, with good sailing and sea handling performance. It has a Beta B25HE engine that was fitted in 2010.  It has recently had fitted with new upholstery, cockpit dodgers and mainsail cover. This yacht benefits from diesel cabin heating and a large saloon table, Unfortunately this yacht is being sold on behalf of the deceased owners estate so limited information is available. Owners are open to reasonable offers. 

Accommodation

The Moody 29 offers 6 berths in 2 cabins. The forward cabin has a double V berth with infill.

The Saloon has a single berth to port with a pull out double berth to starboard and single berth to port with lee cloths . It has a large single quarter berth to starboard with an aft pole hole making it light and airy. The saloon has a large foldup table that also hides a large book case which is great for storing navigation books. The table drops down and also upfolds to seat six in comfort. The Navigation table is also to starboard and has an array of navigation instruments and storage for navigation aids. 

The Galley is to port and has a two-burner Neptune gas cooker oven and grill,  a stainless steel sink  with pressurised hot and cold water and a freshwater manual pump. There are ample storage lockers throughout galley. There is a range of crookery and cutlery and cooking utensils 

The heads has a marine sea toilet,  hand basin with hot and cold water, shower and lots of stowage space.  The water water is heated by the engine and via a 240v immersion heater. Companionway steps lead up to the cockpit which can easily accommodate six people and has good sized lockers. 

Mechanical and Rigging

Spars and Sails:

Sloop rigged deck stepped aluminium mast and boom (1998), stainless steel standing rigging. Age of the running and standing rigging unknown. Spinnaker pole. The mainsail has two reefs and drops into a sail bag with lazybacks. It has a furling mainsail 

Winches:

  • 2 x Halyard winches,  Lewmar 8 at the mast
  • 2 x Sheet winches, self-tailing, two speed, Lewmar 30  
  • 2 x Other Lewmar 8 winches 

Sails:

  • Mainsail, Dacron with two reefs
  • Furling Genoa with blue sacrificial strip, Dacron
Mechanical Systems:

This Moody 29 is powered by a 2010 Beta B25HE 25HP inboard 2-cylinder diesel engine, shaft drive to a fixed 3 bladed propeller, Morse controls. It has a mild steel fuel tank. 

Electrical Systems:

2 x 12-volt batteries, 1 x domestic and 1 x engine charging from the engine alternator, 240-volt battery charger, Rutland 913 Wind generator and small solar panel. 240v Shore power ring main with hot water immersion heater and battery monitoring system.

History & Construction:

Built in 1981 by Marine Projects (Plymouth) White GRP hull with styles stripes. Light blue GRP coach roof with light blue moulded non-skid decks. Cast iron fin keel. Tiller steering to skeg hung rudder. Self-draining cockpit and anchor well. Owned by the current owner for the last 11 years.  Last out of water service 2021. The windows are all very clear indicating that they have been replaced at some time recently.
