Broker Remarks
A popular and successful fin-keeled fast racer/cruiser designed by Rob Humphreys and built by MG Yachts. When Jeremy Rogers stopped building the Contessa range of yachts in 1985, MG Yachts (Marine Glass) took over the rights to the 1984 Rob Humphreys designed Contessa 27, and marketed it as the MGC 27. The MGC 27 has an excellent reputation for sailing performance and handling.
Accommodation
Sleeps 6 in two double berths and two single berths. Techinplex 2-burner hob, oven and grill (new 1999) new gas supply pipe 2004. Single sink and cool-box. Heads compartment with folding door comprises marine WC (new 2004, with all new pipe work), hand-basin and storage. Blue beige upholstery (new 2000). Headroom in saloon approx. 510.
Mechanical and Rigging
GRP hull, deck and superstructure. Fin keel and transom-hung rudder (new 1997), with tiller steering. Hull has been epoxy coated. Volvo 2001 9 hp inboard diesel. Saildrive with folding propeller (new 1996). Fuel Tankage: 1 x 10 gallon stainless steel tank. Water Tankage: Flexible plastic 20 gallon tank (new 2004). Fractional sloop rig. Proctor mast. Backstay tensioner and spinnaker pole. Standing rigging all replaced in 2004. Selden headsail furling system (new 2004). Slab reefing with Kemp lazy-jacks (new 2007). Sails: Kemp Dacron Fastnet Performance Cruise mainsail, with 3 reef points. Kemp Dacron Fastnet Performance Cruise Premium No. 2 genoa (135%). Self-tacking jib by Sanders (1986). Other sails include: a genoa (new 2000); original mainsail from 1986 (serviceable); original spinnaker from 1986 (little used).
