Broker Remarks

2001 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 40 Deck Saloon

The Sun Odyssey 40DS is the first Jeanneau sailboat to be equipped with a revolutionary deck saloon. With living accommodations comparable to those of much bigger yachts. In the brightly lit and voluminous interior, the beauty and the detail of the woodworking relate perfectly to the quality of the furnishings. The Sun Odyssey 40 DS comes with three spacious and comfortable cabins.

Accommodation

Finished in a traditional style below decks with large expanses of natural varnished teak the extra light from the deck saloon windows makes the boat feel far larger than her 40 feet.

A large forepeak with en-suite heads acts as the owner’s cabin. Well finished throughout and in good order the cabin provides a large double berth with plentiful storage in a selection of built-in lockers and drawers. The heads are of an excellent size with sea toilet, sink, vanity locker and shower.

The raised saloon really benefits from the deck saloon design of the boat with the large windows providing great views from the saloon table, ideal for making the most out of scenic anchorages in all weathers. The large saloon table and U-shaped settee style seating are situated to the starboard side with the galley running along the starboard side aft of the saloon seating. which can be used as single berths. Again, a good selection of storage is provided in the form of built-in lockers. Mikuni diesel heating system included but requires servicing before use.

The well-appointed galley is of a practical size for a boat of this size and catering for a full crew is easily achievable with all required services, gas cooker, fridge and double stainless-steel sink.

Opposite the saloon table and seating is a spacious and practical navigation station with a large open table, dedicated seating and selection of storage lockers. The Chartplotter and Radar are all within easy reach of the chart table seating.

The main heads compartment is aft of the nav station on the port side fitted out in a similar style to the slightly smaller forward heads with sea toilet, sink, vanity locker and shower.

Twin aft cabins are situated to port and starboard of the companionway. Both cabins provide good sized double berths with excellent storage for personal gear in a selection of lockers.
