1966 Custom Fred Parker
“Southern Flight” is a small ship extremely seaworthy giving long range blue water cruising capabilities and providing comfort and safety to the highest standard. Ideal as a liveaboard or to realise your dreams. A 2016 survey report is available on request.

Accommodation

“Southern Flight” sleeps 8 in 4 cabins. Owners cabin with en suite and bath, two further twin guest cabins with joint head and shower. A further twin cabin at the stern for crew or guests complete with en-suite head and Sauna.

There is a fully equipped galley with twin stainless-steel sinks, mixer taps with pressurised hot and cold water. A four burner gas hob with oven and grill, two fridges and microwave. The main saloon has U shaped seating for up to 6 people with a 2/3-seater settee opposite finished in red velour, around a large saloon table. The boat is heated throughout via a diesel central heating system. The accommodation is very light and airy, yet it is has a very cosy feeling and would make an ideal liveaboard.

Mechanical and Rigging

Mechanical Systems

The boat is powered via twin 1979 Perkins 6.354 115hp six-cylinder diesel engines, freshwater cooled, shaft drive to twin 3 bladed bronze propellers. Giving a cruising speed of approximately 8kts with an approximate maximum speed of 10kts. 1600-gallon fuel tank which gives a cruising range of approximately 2400nm. Also, a 70-gallon diesel day tank. Last out of water service 2016. New heat exchangers 2016, New shaft seals and cutlass bearings 2016, Full engine overhaul and new cylinder Bo0wman heat exchangers and exhaust mufflers fitted in 2016.

The Port engine does require work which has been estimates at £5,000 to make it fully functional. See owners comments

“The issue with engine occurred when the new Bowman heat exchangers were installed and the exhaust muffler on the port engine was mounted higher than the lowest cylinder, allowing it to siphon back and sit in the cylinder and over time caused the piston to seize up inside the cylinder. I am told that these are robust engines and a very big thump might unlock it but I am worried about the piston rings breaking. I stripped down the head to investigate and feel it would be better to refurbish the engine for which I was given an estimate of £5k”

Electrical Systems

15 x 12-volt batteries feeding a 24-volt onboard system, charging from the engine alternators, 240-volt battery charger, generator. Shorepower connection with 240-volt ring main, inverter and immersion heater.
