Broker Remarks

The DE38 is a typical American built boat with solid construction and classic looks. She is a blue water vessel which will look after her crew when the weather gets rough and has wide uncluttered decks with a large cockpit and good stowage, ideal for long passages.

Accommodation

Double berth in forward cabin with ensuite access to the heads compartment.
Sea toilet, shower and wash hand basin.
Spacious saloon with 6'6" of headroom and settees convertable into 4 additional berths.
A quarter berth with privacy door on the starboard side.
Fitted with brown upholstery recovered in April 2012.

Galley:
Brydon four burner gas cooker with grill and oven (2005).
Two stainless steel sinks with hot and cold pressurised fresh water and two manual sea water pump.
Two fridges and generous work surfaces and storage.

Mechanical and Rigging

Designed by Henry Morschladt and built by Down East Yachts Inc. in Santa Ana California in 1977, this cutter rigged yacht hull and decks are constructed in GRP with encapsulated 3.6 tonne lead keel. She has a long keel with a keel hung rudder. The 41 percent ballast displacement ratio gives her the capability to stay on her feet despite a shoal draft keel of just under five feet.

Mechanical:
Powered by a Lombardini LDW-1503M 38hp diesel engine fitted in 2000 delivering through a shaft to a fixed three bladed propellor. The engine has had 1175 hours of service.

Spars and Rigging:
Cutter rigged, deck stepped mast with stainless steel standing rigging(1987).
White painted mast and boom with the mast fitted with fixed steps.
Hood System Seafurl 5 furling headsail, staysail and mainsail slab reefing stackpack system.
Self tacking boomed staysail.
Mast stowed telescopic spinnaker pole.

Sails:
Quay mainsail, genoa and staysail (2001).

Electrics:
12V system with switched 4 batteries (150Ah).
240V shorepower system and shorepower cable
240V battery charger.
Invertor.

Tankage:
50 gallon steel diesel tank.
150 gallon stainless steel  and PVC fresh water tank.
Calorifier tank with 240V immersion heater.

Water System:
Hot and cold pressurised water to galley and heads.
Manually pumped salt water supply to both galley sinks.
