1981 Westerly Conway
Westerly Conway Sloop robustly constructed is a well proven long-distance cruiser. The present owner has enjoyed for the last two years, but sadly not been able to use due to time constraints and ill health. The boat is currently ashore for viewing. A 2017 survey is available on request.

Accommodation

The layout offers seven berths in three cabins, with two double sleeping cabins separate from the main accommodation.  In forecabin, V berth.  Opening hatch to deck. Hanging locker. Separate heads compartment to port with marine toilet, shower, and washbasin. Hanging locker opposite. In saloon, two settee berths. Fixed table with drop leaves. Chart table to port, with galley opposite. Two burner hob with grill and oven installed and certified 2018 never used, stainless steel sink, pressurised hot and cold-water supply. 180 litre freshwater capacity in stainless steel tank, litre refrigerator. Walk through to aft cabin with single berth to port, with wash basin opposite, hanging locker. Eberspacher diesel fired hot air central heating. Upholstery finished in red velour.

Masthead Bermudian sloop. Anodised aluminium mast and boom.  Stainless steel standing rigging. Terylene running rigging. Slab reefing mainsail with stackpack. Headsail furling system, manual backstay adjuster. Spinnaker pole.

Mechanical Systems

Located under the cockpit, Volvo MD2040 39hp diesel engine, electric start, freshwater cooled via heat exchanger. Shaft drive to three bladed propeller, giving approximately 6.5 knots cruising speed, with an approximate maximum speed under power 7 knots. Single lever control. Last serviced 2018. The electrical system was comprehensively and professionally upgraded in 2018, including a new battery bank and panel

History and Construction

Built in 1981 by Westerly Marine to a design by Laurent Giles. White GRP hull with style stripes. Teak rubbing strake. White GRP superstructure with Treadmaster non-slip. Cast iron fin keel. Skeg hung rudder. Wheel steering. Centre self-draining cockpit with GRP open wheelhouse. The owner has a number of spare items to go with the boat.
