Broker Remarks

Make this vessel your holiday home afloat enabling you to explores the Southwest’s beautiful cruising coastlines in Devon and Cornwall, with paid marina berth until the 31st of March 2021 included!!

This Broom Ocean 38 is in excellent condition; she has been owned by her current owners since 2002.

Maintenance has always been a high priority as she has been cruised extensively, regular trips to the Channel Isles, Coast of France and the rivers and canals of Brittany.

This Broom Ocean 38 has twin Volvo Penta TAMD 41P 200 horsepower engines that are incredibly economical, at their slowest in gear speed, they comply with harbour, river and canal maximum speed limits. There was a serious inspection/strip down and in-depth service during the winter of 2016, this was carried out purely as the owner is fastidious about maintaining the engines and felt it was the correct thing to do to ensure they continue to give peak performance for a further 20 years.
Part of this package the vessel will be fuelled with full tanks ready for a new owner!

The present owner has implemented a serious upgrade schedule, including; natural teak laid decks and the cockpit area, (these are in superb condition, they have never been scrubbed or power washed!). She also benefits from having Ocean Air Blinds fitted. This Broom 38 also benefits from an upgraded navigation suite, most recently a class B AIS transponder 2019. The owner has also installed a 4Kva diesel generator for independent living when at anchorages.

For the new owner, if they wish to keep her berthed locally, there is a paid-for marina berth here at Mayflower International Marina Plymouth until the 31st of March 2021 to be included in the price, (which is transferable subject to marina terms and conditions), take advantage of the marina berth that is included, to spend time in the Southwest enjoying the variety of cruising grounds we are lucky enough to have. Mayflower marina are twice winners 2014 and 2015 coastal Marina of the year and a five golden anchor standard marina. The marina also allows extended periods of stay for holidays or a liveaboard option. (subject to Marina terms and conditions). The marina is located on the boarder of Plymouth and Cornwall and overlooks the mouth of the river Tamar and has stunning views of Mount Edgecombe, arguably the marina has one of the best views in Devon and Cornwall.

Should the new owner of this boat not have much experience, then keeping the boat locally will give them the opportunity to get to grips with boat handling in sheltered waters first. As the River Tamar is only five minutes from the marina berth to the West giving proper shelter and calm seas to practice on. There are many locations along the River Tamar that moorings are approachable, as well as anchorages that can be utilised, and plenty of creeks off the Tamar to explore, giving some valuable experience away from open water to captain and crew.
A local qualified semi-retired engineer and commercially endorsed yacht master is available to maintain and tutor on the boat once purchased if needed, the owner could introduce the buyer to him.

This Ocean Broom 38 is a fantastic motorboat that offers a complete package; it would be a shame for anybody searching for a boat like this to miss out on her, the condition very good.

The Broom 38 is ready to step onboard and cruise away, bedding cutlery, crockery, pots and pans etc, all that's needed is to complete the paperwork, bring some fresh food, drink and enjoy this special boat.
Genuine reason for the sale of the boat, as the vendor and family are retiring from boating after a very pleasant 56 years of boat ownership and extended cruising.
