Broker Remarks

The Moody Halberdier was designed and built between 1969 and 1973; this particular yacht was one of the later boats that were built in 1984 by Seabourne Marine, using the same mouldings from Macron (Marine Construction Ltd Plymouth).
This particular Moody Halberdier is a very well equipped for a yacht of this era. The current owner had an extensive refit in 2015/16; the engine was removed and seated on new flexible engine mounts in 2015, as well as being overhauled where necessary. The gearbox was also rebuilt, and the engine was repainted. The electrics have also been rewired in the engine room, and new battery charger split alternator charger fitted and much more. Many upgrades have been made to the equipment of this yacht as well. Most notably the addition of the navigation equipment, with a Garmin radar and chartplotter. There has also been an Eberspacher D2 airtronic diesel fired cabin heating system fitted. All of the interior upholstery was professionally recovered in 2015.
The Moody Halberdier although classed as a motor sailor is, in fact, an excellent sailing yacht. With her traditional long keel, heavy displacement and generous sail plan, she is a very balanced sailing yacht. She also has the uprated 72hp diesel engine, which motors very well at a comfortable cruising speed of 6.5 knots and quick full power speed of 8.5 knots. Therefore if time restraints are something you have to consider when you are cruising, confidence can be placed on the engine to get you to your next destination on time quickly and capably, if conditions for sailing are against you.
