Broker Remarks

The Elan Impression 434 is a real blue water cruiser; the 434 model is part of Elans cruising range of yachts that were designed with comfort at heart, although the sailing performance, as always was the main focus as well.
This Elan 434 is in her first ownership since new; the owners followed every step of the build and commissioning process and visits to the factory in Slovenia together with much research put into the decision to order this model.
The boat was delivered to Swanwick in June 2007, and the owners upgraded the spec to the premier model with numerous optional extras included in the premier pack.
Since taking delivery of the boat the owners have added to the spec with the Raymarine C80 Chartplotter in the cockpit and AIS is one of these upgrades, they also purchased a new Crusader sails gennaker, with a gennaker Facnor furling system (2011). The saildrive seal was replaced in 2015 as well as an entirely new battery inventory (2016). There are many more upgrades and optional extras listed in this specification so please take note when reviewing this advert.
The condition of this boat is excellent there are minimal signs of wear and tear for a used boat, the owners have always had the boat professionally maintained.

Owners Comments:
Blue Velvet has given us 11 years of fantastic sailing, initially from the delivery cruise between Hamble in August 2007 to the Mayflower Marina in Plymouth.
Since then we have sailed as a couple and with friends along the south coast between Dartmouth and Falmouth/Helford River. Also offshore sailing between Cherbourg, the Channel Islands and the French Coast, down as far as Camaret for our main summer cruise of a week/two-week duration.
Blue Velvet is set up to have good performance in safety, and one example of this is a journey door to door between Alderny and Plymouth of 12 hours (approx. 100 miles) close reaching with speeds of seven to nine knots.
The safety in the design by Rob Humphries is achieved as the keel weight is kept low down by the design of the hull, which has a return/encapsulated stump joint down in the hull before the keel is attached. The other major elements are fuel and water tankage which are positioned low down towards the centre of gravity of the yacht, and this gives excellent balance and handling.
